The colors of the flag were intended to symbolize the following: the orange color stands for the land, the savannah found in the northern part and its fertility, the white represents peace, and the green represents hope and also the forest of the southern part of the country. The flag was adopted in 1959, just prior to independence.

GMC Flags of the Nations: Côte d'Ivoire
Global Ministry Center
Since September 1, 2009, the Church of the Nazarene's Global Ministry Center (GMC) proudly flies a flag each week of one of the many nations in which the denomination is present in ministry. Leaders were invited to send a national flag to be flown at the GMC alongside the flag of the United States*. The national flags rotate weekly, and photos of them raised are sent to the church leaders of that country.
This week: Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
The Church of the Nazarene officially entered Cote d'Ivoire in 1987.
Cote d’Ivoire had a population of 21,504,162 in 2011. That same year, Cote d’Ivoire reported 147 Churches of the Nazarene, 50 of which had been officially organized. Cote d’Ivoire has 9,067 total members.
Cote d’Ivoire is on the Africa Region. It has one Phase 1 district and one Phase 2 district. For more information, visit www.awfcon.org.
