The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who have recently gone home to be with the Lord. Notices were received November 8-12, 2010.

Flora A. (Thornton) Brown, 95, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away November 6. She was a layperson in the Harrison Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by husbands Kermit D. Wood and William Beall Brown.

Genaro Valencia de la Cruz, 59, of Peru passed away October 24, one day before his 60th birthday. He was a pastor and educator in the Church of the Nazarene, serving at the Arequipa Church of the Nazarene (1987-2010). He also founded the Alto Libertad church in Arequipa and was director of the ETED program in the city. He is survived by his wife, Susana del Ɓguila. (Story)

Max E. Hodge, 89, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away November 5. He was a retired minister and evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Colleen (Crispen) Hodge.

Harold W. Honea
of San Diego, California, passed away November 7. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Arizona, California, and Kansas. He was also the father-in-law of Clergy Development Director Dan Copp. Honea was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Honea, who passed away in 1999.

John W. Jefferson of Germantown, Kentucky, passed away November 6. He was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, last serving as pastor at the Falmouth, Kentucky, Church of the Nazarene in 2000. Jefferson previously served as pastor of the Carlisle, Kentucky, Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Laura M. Jefferson.

Hayes Oliver, 89, of Hartselle, Alabama, passed away November 5. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Poynor) Oliver.

Orville D. Parnell of Sun City, California, passed away October 28. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Oregon, Washington, California, and the Prairie Lakes and Northwest districts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Parnell, who passed away in 2003.

Rosalba Ramos of Chile passed away November 8. She was the wife of Juan Badilla, superintendent of Chile's Bio-Bio District. Funeral services were scheduled for November 11.

Wilma G. Shaw of Rocklin, California, passed away November 1. She was the wife of James S. Shaw Jr., a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene who served in Wisconsin and California. Wilma served as Nazarene Missions International president of the Northern California District and on the NMI Global Council.

Opal C. Skidgel of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away September 30. She was the wife of Homer L. Skidgel, a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene who served in Oregon, California, and Nebraska.

Pamela Trissel, 65, of Wasilla, Alaska, was killed in a car accident November 6. She was the wife of Paul J. Trissel, who was also killed in the accident. Paul was serving as pastor of the Wasilla West Valley Family Church of the Nazarene at the time of their passing. (Story)

Paul J. Trissel, 68, of Wasilla, Alaska, was killed in a car accident November 6. He was serving as pastor of the Wasilla West Valley Family Church of the Nazarene at the time of his death. He previously served in Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, and the Anchor Point and Wasilla Lake churches in Alaska. Paul's wife, Pam, was also killed in the accident. (Story)
