Douglas E. Van Nest, pastor of the West Carrollton (Ohio) Church of the Nazarene, has been elected to the office of district superintendent for Southwestern Ohio. With General Superintendent Jerry D. Porter presiding, Van Nest was elected on the sixth ballot. The election took place at the Southwestern Ohio District’s 48th annual district assembly, held July 20 at Springdale Church of the Nazarene.

Van Nest currently serves on the District Advisory Board, District Board of Ministry, as Nazarene Ministerial Development Center director, ministerial assessment director, and as district secretary. He has also pastored four churches on the district: Cincinnati Price Hill, Cincinnati Fairfax, Trenton, and his current assignment at West Carrollton.

“[Van Nest] brings to the office a wealth of administrative experience," states current Southwestern Ohio District Superintendent Carlton D. Hansen, who is retiring. "His kind and caring spirit has been evident in his work as a pastor and in district assignments.”

Dr. Van Nest and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Jordan (11) and Jared (8), and reside in Miamisburg, Ohio.

He will begin his new assignment August 20.

“We congratulate Doug and our prayers are with him and Lisa and their family as they enter this new phase of ministry,” said Hansen.
