In 2006, Loren Gresham, president of Southern Nazarene University (SNU), announced the establishment of The Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership. As a result of a national search, Tony Griffin was named the Mike and Sheila Ingram executive director of the Center.

Griffin assumed the role as executive director in August 2007. He is currently laying plans for the launch of an executive master’s of business administration in ethical leadership in early 2008, which will be designed, for both for-profit companies as well as not-for-profit companies.

“Griffin rose as the top choice in our search for an executive director,” said Patrick Allen, provost at SNU, “because of his broad experience in business, education, and ministry, his academic preparation, his personal qualities, and his vision for making the Ziglar Center a place that not only honors the teachings and lifelong influence of Zig Ziglar, but also honors the mission of SNU by envisioning this Center as a place of ministry, encouragement, and assistance to the business community, university, and church.”

The Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership will honor the life and legacy of Zig Ziglar in partnership with the Ziglar Corporation of Dallas, Texas. The Ziglar Corporation and SNU are creating a new forum and format for expanding the study of ethical leadership.

“The president and members of the administrative team are truly excited to see the center develop under the leadership of Tony Griffin,” said Allen. “Tony has stellar academic preparation (juris doctor, master of divinity, CPA). This preparation and experience, along with being a person of integrity, vision, and energy, makes Tony Griffin the ideal person for the directorship of the Ziglar Center.”

The mission of the Zig Ziglar Center for Ethical Leadership at SNU is to serve as an academic center of excellence for the study and practice of Christian ethical leadership that serves the business community, university, and beyond.
