Larry W. Leonard appointed Tennessee D.S.

The Board of General Superintendents has announced the appointment of Larry W. Leonard to the office of district superintendent of the Tennessee District. Leonard fills the vacancy left when Robert Broadbooks, current district superintendent, was elected as director of USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism.

The action was taken by General Superintendent Nina G. Gunter with approval by the Board of General Superintendents and in consultation with the Tennessee District Advisory Council. The appointment will be effective January 1, 2009.

Leonard is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene College (now University). Following graduation, he served as assistant to the assistant director of Church Relations at TNC. He did extensive studies in church management in a masters program at Olivet Nazarene University, and in 2006, Trevecca presented him an honorary doctorate for his work in the church, which included his role as director of Nazarene Youth International (1983-1986).

Leonard currently serves as pastor of the Lakeland, Florida, Highland Park Church of the Nazarene. He also pastored in Orlando, Florida (Central), as well as churches in Oklahoma (Nowata, Tulsa Regency Park) and Kansas (Hutchinson First, Wichita First).

Leonard and his wife, Gay, currently reside in Bartow, Florida. They have two adult children, Jonathan and Christina.
