Zambia Copperbelt combines district assembly with Centennial celebration

Kitwe, Zambia
In a combined district assembly and Centennial celebration, the churches of the Copperbelt District in Central Zambia came together for a celebration in Kitwe, Zambia.

To begin the celebration, pastors, delegates, and visitors from across the district gathered for a day of workshops. Regional Finance Coordinator Fred Otto led a seminar on spiritual formation and stewardship. Otto then preached in the evening service on authority, responsibility, and accountability. Using three people to represent the three points made a lasting impression on all attendees. Following the service, a wonderful Zambian meal was provided.

The Sunday Centennial worship service began with Daniel Mokebe, who then served as Africa Central Field strategy coordinator, presenting the core values of the Church of the Nazarene: we are Christian, we are holiness, and we are missional. He encouraged everyone to celebrate in the African manner, and the celebration began with joyous singing and dancing in the traditional way of African Nazarenes. Centennial video clips were viewed with praise and thankfulness for the way that God has led the Church of the Nazarene through these first 100 years.

Mokebe also conducted the business of the 29th District Assembly. Outgoing District Superintendent Paul Mtambo gave his last report to the assembly and was introduced by Mokebe as the new Field strategy coordinator. The new Copperbelt District Superintendent Shadreck Simbeye and his wife were presented to the assembly.

The Copperbelt District continued the celebration of the Centennial throughout the district as delegates and visitors returned to their home churches.
