Thursday, July 30, 2009
Global Ministry Center
After competing with video and film submissions from across the U.S. and 30 additional countries, two videos produced through World Mission Communications (WMC) have been honored with Telly Awards.
The video KILOP, produced by the Asia-Pacific Region in partnership with missionary Verne Ward IV, was awarded a Silver Telly - the Telly's highest honor - in the Religious category. He was also awarded a Bronze Telly for Cinematography.
Hope in the Amazon, a video produced by WMC, won a Bronze Telly in the Religious category and a Bronze Telly for Cinematography.
Both KILOP and Hope in the Amazon were featured on the Volume 2, 2009 edition of the World Mission DVD, a free resource sent quarterly to every Nazarene church in North America. Both can be viewed from the Nazarene MediaLibrary by clicking on the corresponding titles below.
Through the efforts of the international team of WMC, part of the Global Ministry Center of the Church of the Nazarene, God's kingdom stories are being shared around the world. For more information on WMC, see worldmissioncommunications.org.
About the videos
KILOP: Written, scripted, and filmed by Verne Ward IV in Papua New Guinea using all Nazarene volunteers, "KILOP" promotes World Mission Broadcast (WMB) through a kids' radio program in Papua New Guinea. Photos used in the video were taken by Dr. Randy Cronk, a professor from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The video was edited on the Asia-Pacific Region by Ervz Tia and the communications team, which is headed by Regional Communication Coordinator Doug Flemming. The video runs four minutes.
Hope in the Amazon: Filmed along the tributaries of the Amazon River in Brazil, the video promotes World Mission Broadcast by depicting the ministry's spread through the jungle by steamboat up and down the Amazon River. The video was scripted, shot, and produced by WMC team member Lee Rudeen and edited by Verne Ward IV. Nazarene Brazilian missionary Manuel Lima and WMC team member Brian Utter are featured. The video runs three minutes.
