How does one called by God and trained in the Word find a place to serve?

A few years ago, the Clergy Development office implemented a multi-staff referral system whereby those seeking associate positions in the Church of the Nazarene could fill out a form online and receive updates on open ministry positions. It was a good start, but technology has provided innovative advancements.

In the summer of 2007, the Nazarene Job Board - - debuted to replace the multi-staff referral system. The web site is designed to empower both pastors seeking associates, as well as associates looking for a place to serve. On this site, candidates can post resumes, pictures, and video clips. They can also browse open ministry positions posted by pastors and send online inquiries letting the pastor know of their interest in the open position. In turn, pastors can browse resumes and make contact with potential candidates.

Since 2007, the Nazarene Job Board has continued to grow, and with the present economic climate, its value as a free resource to Nazarene ministers is at an all-time high.

At present, 900 potential ministry candidates and nearly 450 pastors have registered on the site for positions in the United States and Canada. The system is not currently set up for churches looking to fill lead pastor positions, but the web site is poised and ready to grow to provide that service in the future.

The Nazarene Job Board is a complimentary service of Clergy Development. For more information on the Nazarene Job Board, contact the staff at Clergy Development at or see the web site at
