The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who have recently gone home to be with the Lord. Notices were received from September 7-11, 2009.
Joseph E. Bannister, 82, passed away September 7 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having served in Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. He was married to the late Beatrice Bannister.
Joanne V. Cole passed away August 9 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Cole.
Richard A. Gilster Sr. passed away September 7 in Fresno, California. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having served for more than 47 years in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Arizona. He was married to the late Dorothy L. Gilster. He is survived by his children, Richard Gilster, Jr., Mary Cowdrey (Steve), Ron Gilster (Delores), Reginald Gilster (Thelma), and by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Tedder (Verne).
Zane F. Holland passed away September 1 in Bixby, Oklahoma. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having served in Missouri, Arkansas, and California. He was married to Wilda Holland. (click name for more information)
Jean Orihood, 70, passed away August 27 in Huntington, West Virginia. She was the wife of retired minister Dale M. Orihood. Together they served in Ohio and West Virginia.
Chester F. Pasko passed away September 9 in Muncie, Indiana. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, having served in Indiana. He was married to the late Audrey Pasko.
Thelma Slifer, 88, passed away September 5 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She was the wife of the late Kenneth B. Slifer.
