NPH exceeds Thanksgiving offering goal
Kansas City, Missouri
Thursday, November 19, 2009
On November 12, Nazarene Publishing House (NPH) held its annual Thanksgiving Chapel for all employees and invited guests. Joe Colaizzi from the Kansas City Rescue Mission (KCRM) was the invited speaker for the morning and presented a simple but powerful message of thanks to God for His many blessings. Jason Sivewright of Barefoot Ministries, along with other talented NPH employees, led in dynamic praise and worship. Many employees commented on the very tender presence of God in the time of worship, through the message, and through partaking of communion.
The service concluded with NPH President Hardy Weathers stating that the 2009 NPH Thanksgiving offering would be to provide meals for those seeking a hot Thanksgiving dinner at KCRM. He stated the goal for the offering this year would be to feed 500 people. To do this, NPH would need an offering of $940. This lofty goal was approximately double the amount of any previous Thanksgiving offering that NPH had received.
NPH is now giving praise to God, because as of Tuesday, November 17, NPH will provide funds to KCRM in an amount that exceeds its goal of $940 with a total gift of $1,461. This offering is triple the funds of NPH's largest Thanksgiving offering. NPH will be able to provide exactly 777 meals for KCRM through the generosity of the NPH family.
As NPH continues to seek to provide "innovative Biblical solutions for the changing church," it also seeks to ask the question from Luke 10:29, "and who is my neighbor?" In both the mission and the following question, the resolve of NPH employees is to serve the church and love their neighbor.
