NNU to host Philip Yancey for 2010 Wesley Center Conference
Nampa, Idaho
Wednesday, December 2, 2009
"99 Parts Perspiration: God & the Creative Process" is the theme for Northwest Nazarene University's (NNU) 2010 Wesley Center Conference, to be held February 4-6, 2010, at College Church of the Nazarene, Nampa, Idaho.

Thomas Alva Edison was well-known for saying "Genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration." In other words, Edison believed there is no substitute for hard work. While this is evident in many of life's arenas, we must admit that Edison's claim can be challenging for those in ministry. After all, what does it mean to work hard while partnering with God in the creative process?

Headlining the conference is bestselling writer Philip Yancey (see Slideshow), editor-at-large for Christianity Today and the author of What's So Amazing About Grace? (1998) and The Jesus I Never Knew (1996), both of which earned Book of the Year awards by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Jeff Crosno, a respected preacher and pastor of the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, will present the 2010 Neil Ministry Address on Thursday evening during the conference.

"NNU's Wesley Center is honored to bring Philip Yancey to our campus," notes Jay Akkerman, conference director. "We want to offer handles for all who seek to follow Christ while engaging in the creative process by helping pastors and laypersons explore what it means to write, preach, teach, perform, and create while keeping in step with the Spirit of God."

Online conference registration is now open and includes an early-bird rate of just $59 per person if received by December 15. The registration fee includes conference materials, a formal Friday night banquet, and continental breakfasts. Pastors may also register in advance to obtain continuing education units (CEUs) without charge. Discounted hotel rates are also available via the conference website.

The registration fee will be $69 if received by January 1, 2010, and $79 if received by February 1; after that date, registrations increase to $99. Registrations canceled after January 24, 2010, are not refundable.
