General Secretary releases 2009 stats

General Secretary David P. Wilson recently released the Annual Church Statistical Reports for 2009. These detailed reports, documenting the missional activities of the Church of the Nazarene on a global scale, again show growth for the denomination over the statistical year, as well as continued growth over the past decade.

Global reports show total membership for the church now stands at 1,945,542. There are currently 24,285 churches in the denomination, of which 17,277 are organized. The church also welcomed a total of 165,661 new Nazarenes in 2009, and 1,178 new churches were organized. According to the Board of General Superintendents, an average of 455 people came to Christ and joined the Church of the Nazarene every day last year.
