According to the church's web site, Cooper's ministerial service has included roles as youth pastor, teacher/trainer, senior pastor, and missionary, which provide a richness and depth of perspective. He has specialized in areas of relational leadership, community in the church, compassionate ministries, and church renewal and growth.

A native of Arkansas, Cooper previously served in churches in Topeka, Kansas, and Houston, Texas, before becoming pastor at Denison, Texas, First Church, and Enid, Oklahoma, First Church. He served as a missionary from 1992-1996 and began his service at The Point in 1997.
