Nazarene MediaLibrary surpasses 10,000 users
Global Ministry Center
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
According to the Global Ministry Center's Web Development Office, the Nazarene
MediaLibrary, launched in 2008, has surpassed 10,000 users.
The MediaLibrary, found at nazarenemedialibrary.org, offers free downloadable video, audio, graphic, and document files. The service is growing faster than anyone could have expected and new users are joining every day.
Several of its users, such as Audin Vasquez of the La Vid Verdadera Church of the Nazarene in San Antonio, Texas, have even started to help develop content.
Vasquez contacted MediaLibrary developers recently and offered a Spanish version of the video of General Superintendent J. K. Warrick talking about his experience in Haiti. As a result of this contribution, the translated video is now posted online allowing more people to hear and understand the emotional words spoken by Warrick. In fact, the Haiti videos are the most-viewed files in the MediaLibrary.
Another example is Harmen Meijer, who submitted the inspiring story Thabo translated into Dutch. Meijer, a Nazarene Missions International president, has been a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Koog aan de Zaan, Netherlands, since 1986.
This type of open-sourcing can take MediaLibrary content to a whole new level. While no individual would be able to complete all the translation needed on their own, a pool of 10,000 users could easily handle such a task.
The Web Development Office wishes to thank all of the dedicated 10,000 (plus) participants in the MediaLibrary for helping them reach and resource as many people as possible on behalf of the Church of the Nazarene.
