Since 1912 Nazarene Publishing House (NPH) has been the publishing and printing arm of the Church of the Nazarene. There are 195 valued employees of NPH and Weathers states his report is reflective of their "commitment to provide resources for the changing church - the Church of the Nazarene."

Highlights:

Weathers highlighted NPH's focus on resourcing the local church and pastor, as outlined in the following article: "NPH announces restructure"

Beacon Hill Press focuses on the NPH core mission of bringing innovative resources to a changing church. BHP continues to establish a publishing niche by publishing books and resources in the following genres: ministry resources, spiritual formation, Christian care, and textbooks. Just some of the highlights for 2009 include the release of New Beacon Bible Commentary Library, Volume 1 (electronic version of first five volumes of the new commentary), two additional volumes of the New Beacon Bible Commentary (Judges, 2 Corinthians), and Our Watchword and Song (A 17-year project on the Centennial history of the Church of the Nazarene). BHP was projected to end 2009 with sales of $2.3 million, a decrease of nine percent over 2008.

Lillenas Publishing Company provides worshipful and effective music, as well as drama tools for the Church of the Nazarene and local churches everywhere. In 2009, Lillenas received it's second-ever and second consecutive Dove Award for Best Youth/Children's Musical of the Year: An Island Christmas. Also, under its Allegis imprint, Lillenas released a new Christmas musical called A Night of Hope, which was the company's flagship release of the year. Another highlight was the release of the worship collection Gift of Love.  Lillenas will end fiscal year 2009 with a sales decrease of approximately eight percent over 2007, which brings sales near $6.3 million. Internet sales are projected to end the year at $1.7 million, and are expected to continue to grow.

WordAction Publishing continues its commitment to providing Bible-based, Wesleyan-Holiness curriculum that is relevant to everyday life. Merritt Nielson serves as director of Curriculum. New resources were released in 2009 in the following areas: Small Group (Christian Belief Series [3 titles] - Articles of Faith: What Nazarenes Believe, Christianity 101: Basic Beliefs in Faith, Growing in Faith: Intentional Christian Living) Sunday School curriculum (Preteen transitional curriculum - Wired: My Self, My Relationships, My World; Faith Connections - Middle Elementary), Vacation Bible School (2009 - Museum@12627, 2010 - Deep Sea Adventure: Exploring the Depth of Jesus' Love), Children's Quizzing (Joshua, Judges, Ruth), Discipleship (Believer's Discipleship Series - 2 titles) and devotionals (Reflecting God Daily Devotional).

Barefoot Ministries made a strategic change this year under to emphasize training and support the training with product that would better resource the youth worker.

The House Studio, a new business unit, completed its first year of existence. The House was established to develop product for churches that are not currently turning to NPH for resources primarily emphasizing the young adult market. The House Studio released its first book, The Kingdom Experiment, a study of the beatitudes. Several other book and video projects are due to release in early 2010.
