Video: "The Ground Shook - Our Faith is Not Shaken"
Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Friday, March 5, 2010
The earthquake in Haiti gave many people every reason to lose hope. More than 200,000 lives were lost. More than 20 percent of buildings in Port-au-Prince collapsed and 80 percent of those still standing are too damaged to safely inhabit. But while lives have been forever changed, hope and faith in God remain.

In the heart of downtown Port-au-Prince, you'll find Bel-Air Church of the Nazarene in the middle of what could be described as Ground Zero of the earthquake zone. Just blocks from the National Palace, now an image of Haiti's broken state, it is surrounded by piles of concrete rubble, the remains of a shattered neighborhood. Yet the church still stands. And in the weeks following the quake, the church has reached out to their community. They have provided food, water and care kits to neighbors. And through a partnership with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and Heart to Heart International, they have been hosting a medical clinic that sees hundreds of patients a day as well as a mobile clinic that goes out into the neighborhood to provide care. They do this because they care. They do this because they believe in a God who heals.

The following account of the Haiti earthquake by Marc Jean Louimette is featured on a new video in association with NazarenesHelpHaiti.com. To view the video, click the play button in the photo window of this article. To download the video, visit the Nazarene MediaLibrary by clicking here.
