ENC to host 460 high school students, sponsors for annual "Festival of Life"
Quincy, Massachusetts
Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Hundreds of high school students from throughout the Eastern Seaboard will travel to Quincy, Massachusetts, as Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) hosts its annual "Festival of Life" celebration March 18-20.
Founded some 30 years ago, Festival of Life brings students in grades 9-12 from the Eastern Region of Nazarene Youth International to ENC for three days of athletic competitions, arts, and music activities, as well as opportunities for local ministry. This year's Festival of Life is expected to attract 460 students and adult sponsors, all of whom will stay at the Boston Marriott Quincy while taking part in activities at ENC.
"Festival of Life has several goals," said Beverly Keuther, ENC's Festival of Life director. "Students focus on developing their talents and skills through competition in athletics, music, drama, arts, and academics. Students also have an opportunity to participate in worship services and ministry projects while becoming familiar with the ENC campus."
Upon arriving, students will receive a schedule of activities that includes a number of ministry options, Keuther said. Students are also being encouraged to bring canned goods with them for donation to the Quincy Crisis Center. Other planned activities include an ice cream social, concerts, and closing ceremonies that will feature the presentation of awards and scholarships.
