General Superintendent J. K. Warrick presided over the Trinidad and Tobago District's 55th District Assembly on Saturday, March 6, at the Saint James Church of the Nazarene.

The theme of this year's assembly was "The Key to Kingdom Expansion - Exploring the Timothy Principle - Mentoring and Recruiting New Leaders." In his devotional, Warrick said that the Timothy Principle was really the Jesus Principle. Jesus entrusted to His disciples what He would have them to do. The church is called to carry out His mission and purpose. Moreover, the Spirit of God goes ahead of the church drawing people and awakening people to their spiritual needs.

This 55th district assembly will be remembered as the assembly that granted Elder's Orders to God's humble servant Tyrone Goddard. Goddard and his wife, District Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International President Mary Elizabeth Goddard, have served the Trinidad and Tobago District faithfully for over 40 years. Also, three new ministers, Crystalla Williams, Peter Stroude, and Louise Frederick Bobb, received their district license. The district received 141 new members and raised TT$1,504,680.81 ($237,985.12 USD).

The Holiness Convention on Sunday following the district assembly was well attended with approximately 1000 persons in attendance. As usual, this event was carried live on national radio 98.1 FM, which has a listening audience of over 100,000 persons. Warrick in his message to the convention and to the nation at large called on believers to emulate the little boy who gave up all of his meal so Jesus could feed the multitudes and to surrender fully to God's purposes. Several people, young and old, responded to the altar call for a deeper commitment to Christ.

The celebration of the Lord's Supper and the ordination of the Goddards were special times during the convention. Praise and worship was led by international Independent Music Awards winner Russell Leonce. The Caribbean Nazarene College (CNC) Choir, which won the 2009 Inspirational Radio National Gospel Choir Festival, also ministered.

District Superintendent Victor E. George announced that the Holiness Convention would now be held every three years, with the monies saved being earmarked to be used to start new churches and assist the district's seven new starts to become organized churches.

General Superintendent J. K. Warrick and his wife, Patty, who testified of God's work in her life and gave words of encouragement to the convention, were presented with tokens of appreciation by Marilyn George, wife of District Superintendent Victor George, on behalf of the district.
