USA/Canada Regional Director Robert Broadbooks recently announced plans to hold the mid-quadrennial conference on mission and evangelism February 21-23, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky.

The so-called "M" conferences have evolved since the initial conference was launched in 1999 as the Millennial Conference: Bridge to the Future. A stellar array of speakers, headlined by Jim Cymbala, pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, heralded the good news of the Church's opportunity to engage a new millennium with the gospel in 1999. Phillips, Craig, and Dean thrilled participants with their vibrant music of praise and worship.

Subsequent events took place in Nashville, Tennessee, and Kansas City, Missouri. The M3 conference of 2003 was named for both the year (2003) and for the fact that we are presently in the third Christian millennium. At that conference, well-known speakers such as Lee Stroble, Len Sweet, and Rick Rigsby connected a 21st century vision for evangelism, mission, and ministry in an inspirational setting. Workshops featured specialty tracks that attracted hundreds of participants. Additionally, college and university students were present to enrich both their own perspectives as well as the conference itself.

In 2007, M7 featured Reggie McNeal with his inimitable style that challenged attendees to be the church in new ways. A congruent satellite conference paralleled the main event with additional resources and personnel for envisioning new ways to planting and enlarging churches. Again, the workshop tracks engaged conference attendees and the worship experiences reinforced the value of the event in special ways. College and university students who attended the event provided content for a book that challenged the Church of the Nazarene to view the world as a new generation sees it.

In 2011, M11 will take place in the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville. This exciting city situated on the banks of the Ohio River has experienced a renaissance, reinventing itself and taking on a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Demographically, Louisville connects with a population area of significant density for the Church of the Nazarene's membership. With excellent facilities, hotel accommodations, and airport access, it promises to be a good venue for this conference.

The theme of M11 is Igniting Your Passion for Making Christlike Disciples. Bishop Timothy J. Clarke of the Church of God (Anderson), a pastor from Columbus, Ohio, will be a keynote speaker. According to General Superintendent Stan Toler and other members of the Board of General Superintendents, Clarke is a powerful preacher. Broadbooks envisions a conference that connects the five strategies of the USA/Canada Region with the situation-specific challenges of engaging a changing world with the claims of the gospel. George Williamson of Point Loma Nazarene University will bring his engaging style of worship leadership to M11. Few worship leaders express the heart of organic worship, and George Williamson is one whose gifts and graces endow him with spiritual sensitivity.

The Galt House hotel, connected to the conference center so one never has to leave the controlled climate will make it easy for participants to get to and from the convention center. A block of rooms has been reserved and special pricing is available for registrations. In the near future, a special web site will be available for online reservations. Please put this date, February 21-23, 2011, on your calendar now and plan to attend M11.
