Alpha Village, Namibia

During the weekend of June 10-13 the leaders of the Northwest Zone of the Namibia District, Rizera Hipakua and Ujeuao Mukungo, traveled to Alpha Village to hold a crusade for up to 200 people who gathered each evening. The evangelistic crusade was held in conjunction with showing the JESUS Film.

On the opening evening, everything was prepared, the worship team began to sing, and nearly 200 young people from the local school gathered for the service. The vice principal had told Hipakua the students would not be able to attend as it was a school night and they must return to the school. For 20 minutes, school staff tried to get the students to return to the school, but they were unsuccessful.

That evening, 10 minutes into the JESUS Film showing, the projector bulb burned out and the crowd was very disappointed. The leaders were not sure if the crowd would leave. They stayed and Hipakua preached a sermon in place of the JESUS Film. Fifty young people came forward to accept Christ into their lives.

The following day, with the JESUS Film equipment not working, the young people returned to hear more of the gospel and 108 came forward for prayer. On Saturday, June 12, the evangelistic team had a follow-up discipleship session with 108 young people.

Saturday evening, Mukungu preached to another group of more than 200 excited attendees. Early on Sunday morning the community people had cleaned a space under a tree for their first worship service. It was held with 150 in attendance. At the close of the service another 30 people gave their hearts to Christ.

Mukungu and Hipakua are now working with the people to establish a permanent Church of the Nazarene in the village. There are no other churches ministering in this community.
