The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who have recently gone home to be with the Lord. Notices were received from July 19-23, 2010.
Mildred Bish of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away July 18. She was the wife of F. Eugene Bish, a former minister in the Church of the Nazarene who served in Pennsylvania, Florida, New Mexico, Texas, and Ohio.
Frank R. Davison, 84, of Hudson, Florida, passed away July 16. He was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Michigan and Florida. He is survived by his wife, Winona Davison.
Doris M. (Bryant) Joyce, 97, of Bowdoinham, Maine, passed away July 20. She was the widow of Harland C. Joyce, a former minister in the Church of the Nazarene who served in Massachusetts and Maine. Harland C. Joyce passed away in 1985.
Emma May Leonard, 86, of Chariton, Iowa, passed away July 5. She was the wife of J. C. Leonard, a retired minister and evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene who served in Iowa, Oklahoma, and Indiana.
LaVerne Messersmith, 92, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away October 18, 2009. She was a charter member of the Sioux City Central Church of the Nazarene and served as church treasurer for more than 40 years. Messersmith also served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher, and board member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Messersmith, who passed away in 1989.
Douglas G. Sears, 66, of Dacula, Georgia, passed away May 22. He was a former minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in New Jersey, Virginia, and Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sears.
Beryl E. Spross, 91, of Debary, Florida, passed away July 16. He was a retired minister and evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Emily S. (Carazo) Spross. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Spross, who passed away in 1995.
Rachel J. Techau of Macon, Missouri, passed away July 22. She was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Missouri.
