Global praise reports and prayer requests: 07.30.2010
Global Ministry Center
Monday, July 26, 2010
This week's praise reports and prayer requests from Nazarene Missions International, JESUS Film Harvest Partners, and NCN News include:
PRAISES
JESUS Film - Guatemala
"This was the first time I heard the teachings of Jesus," said Jorge in Guatemala. "I am thankful for the JESUS Film. I heard Jesus teach His disciples. I want to grow in the knowledge of God."
JESUS Film - India
"He loved all humankind," said Ramesh in India. "The brothers showed the JESUS Film in our village. I saw God give His only son for all humankind. Jesus died on the cross for us all. He healed many people. I was happy to see all these things in the film. He taught me to love other people. Please pray for me and my family."
JESUS Film - Philippines
"It was a muddy place," said a team member in the Philippines. "We were scheduled to show the JESUS Film and were thankful there was only mud and no rain. We were able to make a contact in the area and have started fellowship groups for children, youth, and adults."
PRAYER REQUESTS
Christian Communities
Pray for the Christian communities in areas of the world where there are radical factions that seek to hinder their ministry and harm them personally. Pray for safety and for these believers to show Christ's love to all people, at all times, in all circumstances.
CIS Field VBS
Linda Russell, missionary serving in Russia, shares, "We have had four wonderful weeks of Vacation Bible School (VBS) on the CIS Field. Last week we had 52 children pile into the rented house we are using as our church in the new church plant city of Stepanavan, Armenia. This week we have had 59 children attending the VBS at our church in Akhuryan, Armenia. The teams that God has put together for me to work with have been amazing. Many, many seeds are being planted. Please pray for our pastors and workers because their work is just about to begin. The last day of each VBS we hold a program for the parents and the response has been wonderful. Ganta Women's Vocational Training Center
Pray for the ministry taking place at Nazarene Compassionate Ministries' Ganta Women's Vocational Training Center in Liberia. Created some years ago by a local church to encourage women in learning new skills after the ravages of civil war, it has grown beyond a simple skills training location. In the mornings children come to attend regular classes until the early afternoon. Then adults come to learn sewing, tie-dying, soap making, baking, masonry, and construction. By late afternoon the facility is emptied again only to fill up once more when adult literacy students arrive for evening classes. On Sundays, a worship service takes place in the combined classroom. Pray for David and Edith Boyou as they give leadership to the work and for all those who attend classes and worship services. To learn more, click here.
South Asia Field Strategy Coordinator
Pray for Hermann Gschwandtner, who is assuming the role of field strategy coordinator for the South Asia Field. Gschwandtner has extensive experience in ministry and on the South Asia Field, most recently serving as Nazarene Compassionate Ministries coordinator and JESUS Film coordinator. Pray also for Hermann's wife, Brigitte, as she supports Hermann in his work. May the Lord bless their ministry.
HEALTH-RELATED REQUESTS
Ron Gilbert
Prayer is requested for Ron Gilbert, missionary on the Eurasia Region. He and his wife, Dianna, have returned to the U.S. for a 90-day medical leave. Ron has been dealing with some health issues that necessitated his seeing a specialist. The tests are going well and he hopes to be able to return to the region in late September.
