Visayan Nazarene Bible College elects new president

The Board of Trustees announced the election of Inocencio (Jun) Cainglet Cabantug as the president of Visayan Nazarene Bible College in the Philippines.

“With God’s grace and guidance, the Board of Trustees is confident that the newly elected president has the qualifications that the school needs – calling, character, commitment, and competence,” the board said in a written statement.

Cabantug graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Colegio de San Agustin in Bacolod City, Philippines, and earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1992 from Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in Taytay, Rizal, Philippines.

He began his pastoral ministry in 1989 as an associate pastor at Diliman Church of the Nazarene, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines, where he later became the lead pastor. In 1994, Cabantug took an associate pastor position at Miracle Church of the Nazarene, Taytay, Rizal, Philippines, and in 1997, he became an assistant pastor at L.A. First Filipino Church of the Nazarene, Los Angeles, California.

In 1999, he accepted an invitation to pastor at Covina Church of the Nazarene in Covina, California, where he has been the lead pastor until his recent election.

Cabantug is familiar with education. Before beginning his ministry he taught social studies at the University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, Talisay, Philippines, and later taught the same subject at Victoria School Foundation in Cubao, Quezon City.

And in the 1992-93 school year, he was an instructor in economics, finance, and entrepreneurship at the National College of Business & Arts in Taytay, Rizal, and an instructor in evangelism and contemporary theology at Evangelical Theological College of the Philippines.
