Northwest Nazarene University professor Kim Jones Forseth will be inducted to the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Wall of Fame on Saturday, November 19, as part of Mount Vernon’s 2011 homecoming festivities.

Forseth was one of the first female student-athletes to ever play for the Lady Cougars in Mount Vernon, Ohio, when she participated from 1974 to 1978 in four different sports – volleyball, basketball, tennis, and track and field.

In tennis, Forseth was undefeated and the top singles player on the team during the regular season from 1975-1978.  In track, she participated in both field and running events during the inaugural 1977 team. She played on the first two women’s volleyball teams in 1976 and 1977 and helped the Lady Cougars improve from 1-8 in the first season to 12-11 in the second campaign.

As a senior, Forseth played on the inaugural MVNU women’s basketball team in 1977-1978 and averaged 5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, while helping the Lady Cougars post an impressive 14-2 overall record that included winning one game at the OAISW State Basketball Championship. She would later return to the sidelines as an assistant coach for the team from 1982-1984.

Today, Forseth is a professor of kinesiology at NNU with teaching responsibilities in methods of teaching physical education and health, motor development, adaptive physical education, fundamentals of wellness, and has served as department chair since 1998 and faculty chair since 2009.
