Gilchrist, Oregon
A Nazarene in Gilchrist, Oregon had a burden to start a church and wouldn't take no for an answer.

The 69-year-old woman, whose name was not provided, was distraught that the last Christian church in Gilchrist, a United Methodist church, had closed its doors. She called the United Methodist district superintendent with the intent of asking for the newly-closed church building, but he wouldn't return her calls. The woman, who holds a district license in the Church of the Nazarene, persisted calling until finally he called her back.

He agreed to give her the building and everything inside it.

Oregon Pacific District (Church of the Nazarene) Superintendent Stanley Reeder reports that transfer papers for the building are currently being drawn up. He describes it as a "widow and the unjust judge" scenario like that of Luke 18.

"We are going to have a very determined lady starting a new church without any start-up funds, just knocking on doors and holding services in a donated church," he said.
