The Olivet Nazarene University women’s track and field team found themselves on the top of the leaderboard at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championships held in Joliet, Illinois, May 3-5.
The Tigers finished with 120 points in the 18 team field with Indiana Wesleyan University taking second with 110.5 and Greenville University (North Carolina) coming in third with 99 points.
Freshman Alexis Davis (Trotwood, Ohio) and sophomore Rachel Carman (Keokuk, Iowa) both earned All-American status in three events while freshmen Kelsie Williams (St. Charles, Michigan) and Kamaria Goedhart (Rochester, Minnesota) both earned the honor in two events. Junior Kortney Ellingboe (Hamilton, Illinois) and freshmen Alexandra Ortiz (Ottawa, Illinois), Natalie Puent (Eureka, Illinois), Alana Steward (Overland Park, Kansas), and Amy Blucker (Galesburg, Illinois) received All-American honors in one event each.
Davis finished first in the 200 meter race (25.42 seconds) and third in the 100m (12.53). Williams set a new school record in the 100m (12.39). Both Davis and Williams helped the 4X100m (49.43) relay team to a third place finish and a new school record, along with Carman and Goedhart.
Carman also placed first in the high jump (1.60m) and anchored the 4X400m relay (3:53.67), which took first and set a new school record, along with Ortiz, Goedhart, and Puent. Junior Ellingboe finished third in the 1500m (4:47.02).
Steward and Blucker both took first place in the pole vault (3.22m) and the discus throw (42.88m), respectively.
The Tigers return to action May 10-11 at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
