Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Nancy Detwiler recently announced the hiring of new Sports Information Director Robert Rossi. A 2009 graduate of ENC, Rossi returns to his alma mater and will be responsible for the promotion of the college's 11 sports.

Rossi brings a wealth of knowledge in the sports information field to ENC after serving as the assistant sports information director at Division II Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. In his stint at Merrimack, Rossi was the primary media contact for 11 sports while also assisting with gameday promotions, game presentation, and event management at all home contests.

Prior to his time at Merrimack, Rossi interned in the Office of Athletic Communications at Harvard University for 18 months. While with the Crimson, his duties ranged from assisting with the promotion of all 41 sports to day-to-day operations of the department while also serving as the primary media contact for women’s water polo, men’s tennis, and men’s and women’s fencing.

In 2010, Rossi was honored by the Collegiate Water Polo Association as one of three Sport Information Director of the Year Award recipients for his work with the Harvard University women’s water polo program.

Rossi has gained experience at many NCAA events, including the NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional in Providence, Rhode Island, and the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships in Boston and Foxboro, Massachusetts.

A native of Coventry, Rhode Island, Rossi earned his degree in sports management at ENC. As a student-athlete, he was a four-year member and captain of the then-Crusaders’ men’s soccer team a two-year member of the men’s tennis team. He also spent four years working with the gameday operations staff for basketball, baseball, and softball games at ENC.

Current ENC Sports Information Director Nicolette Kirkland has accepted a position closer to her family on the west coast at Vanguard University of Southern California. VUSC is an NAIA school with 13 sports that participates in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Kirkland played basketball in the GSAC against the Vanguard Lions while receiving her bachelor’s degree at Azusa Pacific University. Her duties as the new director of sports media and promotions began June 1.

"Nicolette has added new dimensions to ENC sports information reporting," Detwiler said. "We are thankful to have benefited from her creativity."
