The Church of the Nazarene is experiencing growth in Honduras, the second largest republic in Central America.
"With the approval of the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene and the confirmation of the district assembly, a new district was created, the Honduras Northwest district," said Israel Acosta, CA-4 field strategy coordinator.
Etan Alexis Bardales, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in Puerto Cortez, Honduras, was elected district superintendent.
The Church of the Nazarene first entered Honduras in 1970. Since then, numerous missionaries have served there, including Philip and Marilyn Hopkins, Dana and Mirtza Benscoter, and Robert (Bob) and Evelyn Shea.
The first Honduras district was created in 2006.
