New Zealand Work & Witness team serves at Mango Tree Centre

Nuku'alofa, Tonga
The New Zealand District recently sent a Work and Witness team to the Mango Tree Centre in Tonga.
While there, the team constructed a fence on an adjacent property that was gifted to the Mango Tree Centre by a local noble specifically for the purpose of building a workshop. The workshop will enable the center to establish a dedicated space for the development, modification, and personalised adaptation of wheelchairs and other mobility and learning aids. The space will also be used to increase the capacity of people with disabilities to live with integrity, pride, purpose, and independence.
The team included ten people from Dargaville Church of the Nazarene, including three children, and eight from the Seabrook, Otara, and Papakura churches in Auckland, including two children.
"God provided safe travelling and health and strength and also strong Tongan men to work with us," said Neville Bartle, New Zealand district superintendent.
The team completed all 120 metres (almost 400 feet) of boundary fence around the new property, and two team members welded strong new gates.
"We finished up at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night working by car headlights," Bartle said.
Other team members made curtains for the physiotherapy building, sorted and folded more than 20 boxes of used clothing, and cooked many meals.
Team members also assisted with physiotherapy exercises, general cleaning and organizing work on the property, English classes, and home visitation, which provides medical treatment, advice, and prayer for the disabled.
"We left feeling inspired and challenged by the ministry of Inkwon and Jeong Seok to the handicapped, and a greater realization of God’s heart for the weak the poor and the suffering," Bartle said. "We realized how blessed we are with material benefits in New Zealand and that we have a responsibility to care for our neighbor no matter where they live."
