Fire officials investigate blaze at Korean church
San Leandro, California

(MercuryNews.com, August 22) Fire officials were investigating reports suggesting arson may be responsible for a two-alarm fire Wednesday at a Korean church.

Multiple reports to police suggested Molotov cocktails were being thrown around the 2300 block of Miramar Avenue in unincorporated San Leandro, where the East Bay Korean Church of the Nazarene is located, Battalion Chief John Walsh said.

Nobody was in the church at the time of the blaze, shortly before noon, and it had been about an hour since the last person had left, Walsh said. The cause and origin are still under investigation, though it does appear the fire originated outside.
