Beacon Hill Press of Kansas City, an imprint of Nazarene Publishing House, will release a new membership resource, Our Church, Your Home: An Introduction to Membership. The release comes at the request of many Beacon Hill constituents looking for an update to the widely used Welcome to the Church of the Nazarene, 2002.

"For quite some time we have been working with pastors to determine what they want and need in the area of membership resources," said Bonnie Perry, editorial director. "Making a commitment to journey with a local faith community is a very significant decision — it's a covenant relationship. Our Church, Your Home is designed to help pastors cast a vision for all that can mean in the life a believer."

In order to cast that vision, Our Church, Your Home utilizes a combination of elements to create an overarching history of and vision for the Church of the Nazarene. A leader’s guide, participant’s guide, and discussion cards all work together to provide a basic introduction to the church.

Videos featuring some of today’s prominent denominational scholars provide a window into the heart of what it means to be Nazarene. J. K. Warrick, Stan Toler, Carla Sunberg, Dave Sharpes, Tom Noble, T. Scott Daniels, and Filimao Chambo all take a turn highlighting some of the distinctive characteristics of the denomination such as entire sanctification, women in ministry, and other Wesleyan-derived themes.

"We are thrilled to have some of the foremost Nazarene scholars of our time featured in these videos," Perry said. "Their insights on the history of our church and the direction for our future are invaluable."

Our Church, Your Home will be available for purchase in January 2013 at beaconhillbooks.com or by contacting Nazarene Publishing House at 1-800-877-0700. Orders are currently being accepted.
