New coordinator for Africa Middle Field

Arcades, Zambia
Current Africa Middle Field Coordinator Chanshi Chanda felt God leading him to resign and will transition out of the position in favor of Nazarene missionary Stéphane Tibi by June 30. Chanda held the position since July 1, 2007.

Africa Regional Director Filimao Chambo announced the leadership transition and thanked Chanda for doing an excellent job leading and coordinating the work on the Middle Field.

Chanda's passion is evangelism and training leaders. He and his wife are establishing a personal ministry organization called the Institute for the Study of Human Dignity and Economic Freedom. He is grateful to church leaders for trusting him with the leadership of the Africa Middle Field and asks his field for their full support of his successor.

Stéphane Tibi and his wife, Sandra, are French and Swiss, respectively. He is fluent in French and English and conversant in German.

Originally from an atheistic background, Stéphane Tibi was first touched by the gospel through the movie The Mission, which depicts missionary work in South America. Deeply moved by what he saw, he bought his first Bible and opened his heart to the Lord.

Later, a Catholic priest gave Stéphane Tibi a book about the life and work of John Wesley, which lead to further reading on the concept of entire sanctification. The doctrine resonated in his heart and an Internet search led him to the Church of the Nazarene.

The Tibis have served as missionaries with the Church of the Nazarene on the Africa Region since August 2006. Stéphane Tibi currently serves as academic dean of Nazarene Theological Institute (Institut Théologique Nazaréen) and mission coordinator for the island of Reunion (a department of France). He also oversees the development of StudyMaps and will continue to serve in these roles.

Stéphane Tibi graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 2006, from the University of Fribourg with a Master in Religious Science in 2003, and from Ecole des Mines de Paris with a Master in Science and Executive Engineering in 1993.
