The Board of General Superintendents has elected Frank M. Moore to serve as general editor for the Church of the Nazarene. The general editor also serves as editor of Holiness Today magazine.

Moore succeeds David J. Felter, who was the denomination’s first general editor, serving from 2001 until his retirement on 31 July 2013.

The election of Moore by the BGS was ratified by an email vote of the General Board, according to General Secretary David P. Wilson.

"We are pleased to have Dr. Frank Moore serve in this important capacity of our church," said Eugénio R. Duarte, BGS chair. "He brings a combination of churchmanship, scholarship, and editorial expertise in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, which is essential to this assignment."

The general editor position carries with it a wide-ranging job description, working with Beacon Hill Press of Kansas City text and books, the Mission Education Committee, and Course of Study Committees (for all six regions).

The general editor reports to the general secretary and serves as an advisor to the BGS on editorial matters.

Moore responded to his election by issuing the following statement:

"I want to express my thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in entrusting me with this significant responsibility. It will afford an opportunity to give back to my church a small token of what I have received. I will be eternally thankful for the Wesleyan-Holiness message of full salvation. I want to faithfully proclaim this message to the entire world so everyone can know my Jesus as their Lord."

Moore is currently the director of the Center for Faith and Culture at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois, a position he has held since 2008.

Prior to his current role at Olivet, Moore was vice president of Academic Affairs and dean of MidAmerica Nazarene University. He also served as chair of the Department of Religion at MNU.

A former pastor as well as an educator, Moore is a widely read author, having written 13 books, including his newest release with his son, Brent, Jesus is Lord: The Cry of a Kingdom Citizen. Brent Moore is a professor at MNU and teaches at its Liberty, Missouri, site. Frank Moore has also written more than 100 articles for Holiness Today, Illustrated Bible Life, Sunday School curriculum, and Reflecting God devotional magazine.

Frank Moore is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University (Bachelor of Arts in religion with high honors), Nazarene Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity with high honors), Vanderbilt University (Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy), and post-doctoral studies in educational management from Harvard University.

He and his wife, Sue, plan to teach their classes at Olivet for the 2013-2014 academic year. The newly elected general editor will meet with Global Ministry Center staff members soon to coordinate a transition plan.
