The worldwide outreach strategy known as GOL 2010 was officially launched on the Asia-Pacific Region during the recent district superintendents conference held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This exciting ministry opportunity, which centers around the 2010 World Cup Soccer event that will be held in South Africa in June 2010, was warmly embraced by Nazarene leaders across the region.

Asia-Pacific Regional Nazarene Youth International Coordinator Brian Woolery engaged the conference participants with a highlight video, a brief introduction, and a GOL 2010 hacky sack for everyone. Leaders were instantly excited about the possibilities this type of outreach would have on the children and youth of their countries. After the service, a discussion group began to brainstorm the various ways in which this could be used as a bridge to reaching the communities where they serve. One of the Indonesian leaders stated, "...our school team is well known throughout their city for having a league championship soccer team. We will use these balls in soccer camps and in games with our 'neighbors' to tell them about Jesus."

By the end of the conference, over 200 hacky sacks were distributed and more than 50 soccer balls were sent out to every field on the region. Each recipient was excited to develop plans for using this tool to share the gospel through the "ball of many colors."

Prayer is requested for team members across the region that their efforts will produce "Christlike disciples in the nations of Asia and the Pacific."
