Proclaiming TO the rooftops
Cyprus
Thursday, April 9, 2009
From the time before Jesus and continuing through today when someone in the Middle East wanted to share news with others, he or she would climb to their roof to shout in a booming voice to anyone who would listen. Today, those cities' rooftops are dotted with satellite receivers.
Since 2000, Ayman Kafrouny, Arabic broadcast coordinator for World Mission Broadcast (WMB), has been producing the radio program Foshat Amal or "Journey of Hope" for the Arabic-speaking community throughout Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and northern Egypt where it was broadcast for several years on a shortwave radio signal. Having seen the importance of television and the incredible opportunities opening to share the gospel, WMB is preparing to launch Aktar Men Kalam or "More Than Words," a weekly Arabic television program.
The pilot episode of Aktar Men Kalam was filmed in December 2008 and the first 26 episodes - six months worth of programming - were being filmed this past February. The program highlights stories of transformed lives, relevant interviews, and on-the-street reports. Kafrouny, a famous Arabic pop singer since before his conversion, also shares Christian Arabic music in each episode.
The program will air on the Al Hayat network from the island of Cyprus throughout the Middle East. Production is continuing with the first 13 episodes ready to begin transmission this spring.
World Mission Broadcast is excited about the tremendous possibilities in reaching Arabic speakers, not only in the Middle East, but also around the world. To find out more about Ayman and his ministry, visit www.intisar.org. For more information about WMB, see worldmissionbroadcast.org.
