Manhattan, New York
Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Gabriel Salguero, pastor of the Lamb’s Manhattan Church of the Nazarene on the Metro New York District, was appointed by Iain Torrence, president of Princeton Theological Seminary, as director of the seminary’s Hispanic/Latino(a) Leadership Program. His installation was celebrated in May at Princeton.
According to the seminary’s web page, the Hispanic/Latino(a) Leadership Program (HLP) is part of the Princeton Theological Seminary’s Center of Continuing Education. The HLP grew out of a strategy implemented to fulfill the mandate of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA to facilitate leadership training in the area of racial-ethnic church growth. The program is designed to nurture and strengthen a core of trained Hispanic/Latino(a) leadership to serve around the world.
Pastor Salguero is described as a gifted speaker, teacher, and evangelist. He has ministered throughout the U.S., Peru, Honduras, the Caribbean, and Mexico. He is a graduate of Rutgers University (B.A.) and New Brunswick Theological Seminary, where he received a masters of divinity (magna cum laude) in 2001. Salguero is a Ph.D candidate at Union Theological Seminary, where he has studied Christian Social Ethics. He previously served as professor of ethics and the Alliance Theological Seminary in New York City.
Salguero and his wife, Jeanette, have worked together in missions and evangelism through much of Latin America and Europe. She is an experienced speaker, educator, and worship leader. Together, they will continue to pastor the Lamb’s Church. The couple has one son, Jon-Gabriel.
