Tragedy in the valley of Itajai, Brazil
Following weeks of heavy rain and flooding, Brazilian authorities declared a state of emergency in the southern state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. As of December 4, the death toll has reached 116 and 31 are still reported missing. (Slideshow, Power Point presentation) read more

Panama struck by massive flooding
After a week of heavy downpour, residents of northern Panama are dealing with the effects of destructive flooding. The Associated Press reports at least eight have died and more are still missing in the region of Bocas del Toro. At least three Nazarene homes were washed away. (Slideshow) read more

Pray for Peace
Prayer is requested for the people in Mumbai, India, as they recover and rebuild their lives following last week's attack. There have been no reports of Nazarenes among the victims. Prayer is also requested for peace in Thailand after recent violence. All Nazarene missionary personnel in Thailand are safe. read more

Asia-Pacific Nazarenes celebrate God's protection of children
Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, along with World Mission Communications Asia-Pacific, joined several other organizations on November 25 at the St. Francis Square Mall in Pasig, Philippines, to kick-off the Philippine Children's Ministry Network's 10th year celebration of God's faithfulness in protecting children. Africa West Field sets new ministry goals for next five years
During the week of November 10, the Church of the Nazarene on the Africa West Field hosted the Regional Cross Cultural Initiative, the first of its kind for the Church of the Nazarene in Africa. A four-day Field Vision Conference was held immediately following the RCCI, where attendees revisited the West Field vision and mission statements and set some clear and audacious goals for the new quadrennial ending in 2013. read more


South Africa Good News Convention Centre launches business school
Since the inception of the Good News Convention Centre's Community Development Programme in July 2008, approximately 30 young men and women from the neighborhood receive training in all facets of business, marketing, and labor. They also learn how to make their own business plans. read more


Women in Haiti learning to lead the way
On a recent Wednesday morning in Haiti, 220 women, young and old, gathered together. It was the day of a national holiday, but this gathering, while filled with celebration, had a serious purpose. These women had come to shake things up. read more

Recently 12 students and their lecturer gathered in a classroom in the Church of the Nazarene in Vlaardingen, Netherlands, for their first classes of the Spiritual Formation Certificate Programme. read more


SENDAS commencement in Costa Rica
The commencement festivities began with the presentation of the national flags representing the graduates' nationalities, followed by the processional of official leaders of the church, faculty, and graduates. MNU announces special assistance to Iowa college students
MidAmerica Nazarene University President Ed Robinson said MNU would extend special financial and transfer assistance to the students of Vennard College, University Park, Iowa. Vennard recently closed on November 22. MNU has also accepted a transfer of Vennard's archive collection. read more


MVNU honors alumni couple with Medallion Awards
Mount Vernon Nazarene University congratulates Matt ('94) and Sonya (Richardson, '94) Price, who were named Medallion Award recipients, the highest honor an MVNU alumnus can earn. read more


NNU theologians address recent trends in holiness theology
Northwest Nazarene University's 2008 Homecoming and Family Weekend celebrations included a panel discussion of recent trends in holiness theology. It included theologian Steven K. McCormick from Nazarene Theological Seminary and theologians Diane Leclerc and Brent Peterson from NNU. The panel was formed and moderated by NNU theologian Thomas Jay Oord. read more

The No. 14 seed Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) men's soccer team continued to make its first-ever appearance in the NAIA National Championship a memorable one. By reaching the semifinals, they become the first MVNU team in school history in any sport to advance that far at an NAIA National Championship. read more


Trevecca Lady Trojans defeat SNU in double overtime to take Music City Classic
Trevecca Nazarene University barely outlasted Southern Nazarene University to claim the 2008 State Farm Music City Classic title. Women's basketball teams from Point Loma Nazarene University and Olivet Nazarene University also participated in the tournament, hosted by Trevecca Thanksgiving weekend. read more
