Duarte witnesses church planting vision in Central America

In a tour of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama, Eugénio R. Duarte conducted his first district assemblies on the Mexico/Central America Region. Elected as the 37th general superintendent in the Church of the Nazarene at the 2009 General Assembly, Duarte now has jurisdiction over the MAC Region. Traveling with Regional Director Carlos Saenz, he observed the fruits of the evangelistic thrust to plant new churches in Central America. read more

Benjamin Langa, the first Mozambican district superintendent, went to be with the Lord on January 25. "When missionaries were forced to withdraw from Mozambique in 1975 due to the revolution, Langa told them, 'I want you to know that whatever may happen in our country, we are going to be Christians.'" read more

Russell Leonce, worship coordinator and youth pastor at the Tunapuna Church of the Nazarene in Trinidad & Tobago and son of George Leonce, superintendent of the Windward Islands District, recently won an Independent Music Award for an album he released. read more

JESUS Film Harvest Partners to have presence at Winter Olympics
The 2010 Winter Olympics will be held February 12-28 in Vancouver and Whisler, British Columbia, Canada. It is estimated that 80 nations will have team representation at the games. While the athletes receive the justified spotlight there is another group of skilled participants who will be there - but without all the fanfare. read more

Northwest Nazarene University released enrollment figures recently indicating strong numbers for the spring. President David Alexander reported a record number of transfer students, an increase in graduate program students, and a 97.22 percent retention rate for fall-to-spring enrollment. read more
PLNU announces creation of regional business and economic institute, sets Economic Outlook Forum
San Diego has a new source for economic solutions: the Fermanian Business & Economic Institute at Point Loma Nazarene University. The FBEI has partnered with the San Diego Economic Development Corporation for a 2010 Economic Outlook Forum scheduled for March 4, at the San Diego Marriott. read more
