Nazarenes in Belize and British Columbia among many responding to the crisis in Bangladesh

Belmopán, Belize--According to the Caribbean Region Communications Office, when Nazarenes in Belize heard of the tragic effect a cold wave was having on communities in northern Bangladesh, India, and the plains area of Nepal (Terai), they responded immediately and with generous hearts.

Led by the efforts of District Superintendent John Tzib, the Belize District has sent a check for $600 (U.S.) towards the relief efforts in this area. This is enough to buy approximately 100 blankets.

Caribbean Regional Director John Smee commented on this outpouring of love and support by saying, "I am extremely pleased at the genuine Christian spirit shown by our Nazarenes in Belize with this gift of love. The Nazarenes in Belize are not wealthy, but they have continually expressed their appreciation for the help that they have received over the many years when hurricanes have brought devastation to their country. This is surely one of the ways of expressing their desire to reach out to others in need with Christian love."

At least four Nazarenes have been killed due to unseasonably cold temperatures in northern Bangladesh. For more information on this situation, see the following story on ncnnews.com: read more
