Oakes, North Dakota
General Superintendent David W. Graves announced the election of Steven P. Hoffman as the new superintendent of the Prairie Lakes District on July 26.

Hoffman currently pastors the Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Church of the Nazarene, where he has served since 2000.

Elected on the third ballot, Hoffman succeeds James M. Kraemer, who was elected superintendent of the Illinois District on July 18.

Hoffman perviously pastored the Aurora, Missouri, Church of the Nazarene and the SonLight Church of the Nazarene in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a graduate of Mid America Nazarene College (now University). Hoffman and his wife, Jeanna, currently reside in Fergus Falls.

"It was a humbling experience to be elected to serve the people of Minnesota, North, and South Dakota as their district superintendent," Steven Hoffman said. "After praying about it, it was clear that God was leading us to accept this new responsibility. While we are leaving a congregation that we love more than words can adequately express, Jeanna and I look forward to working with a team of pastors and leaders to accomplish the clear mission He has given the Prairie Lakes District. It will be difficult to say goodbye to Jim and Lezlie Kraemer, who are some of the greatest leaders in our denomination (and also good friends). But we know that God will give us everything we need to do what He is asking us to do."

Hoffman will begin his new assignment August 26.
