General Superintendent Jerry D. Porter announced the appointment of Larry D. McKain as the new superintendent of the Chicago Central District on Monday.

McKain will begin his assignment October 1. He replaces Brian Wilson, who was elected superintendent of the Southern Florida District in May.

For the last five years, McKain pastored the South Church of the Nazarene in Lansing, Michigan. He previously pastored churches in Missouri (Kansas City), Virginia (Richmond and Springfield), and Iowa (Waterloo). McKain has also served as an evangelist.

A graduate of Mid America Nazarene College (now University), McKain earned a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

McKain and his wife, Denise, reside in Lansing, Michigan.

"We are humbled by this opportunity God and the church have given us to serve," Larry said. "Both Denise and I have been given a promise from the Lord, 'I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you,' Psalm 32:8. The past five years, it has been such a joy to serve on the Michigan District and the great people of South Church of the Nazarene in Lansing.  As we move to the Chicago Central District, we look forward to working with the great team of pastors and lay leaders CCD has and the new pastors and church planters we believe the Lord is already preparing to send us."
